Andrus Värnik

(born September 27, 1977) - Estonian jave lin thrower, world champion. Värnik won two medals in track and field world championships. In 2003 at the world championships in Paris, took second place, losing only to Russian Sergey Makarova. At the next world championships in Helsinki in 2005, has already won world title, beating the Athens Olympic champion and defender of the title Thorkildsen Makarova. Värnik gold medal was the first world championships gold medal in athletics gained for Estonia.
